Numbers 1-4

The book of Numbers begins with the Lord instructing Moses to take a census of the men of Israel who were ready for war. God then gave clear directions for how the Israelites were to arrange their camp, placing each tribe intentionally and commanding them to face the tent of meeting. God was purposeful in where He placed His people, and the Israelites were obedient to follow His instructions.
Hebrews 13:8 reminds us that the Lord is the same yesterday, today, and forever. The same God who intentionally placed the Israelites is still intentional today in where He places us. He desires to be at the center of our lives, with our eyes continually fixed on Him.
God had specific plans when He led our family to Wills Point, though we were hesitant to move. We were comfortable where we were and surrounded by a strong community. Moving our young children away from a city we had carefully chosen for their education was not easy. A close friend reminded us that our children are a gift from the Lord, but they ultimately belong to Him. Just as Israel redeemed their firstborn in Numbers 3, we had dedicated our children to the Lord, trusting His plans for their future.
Although we did not fully understand what God was doing, we knew we needed to walk in obedience.
Psalm 34:8 says, “Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good! Blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him.”

God was calling us to trust Him as we stepped into the unknown.
What once felt uncertain has become a land flowing with milk and honey for our family. We have seen God use our children in ways we never could have imagined, and the fruit of the Spirit continues to grow as we keep our eyes fixed on Him.
Psalm 34:8 says, “Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good! Blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him.”
He is our refuge, and His plans are always good.
