For His Glory

1 Samuel 1

Hannah was married but had no children because her womb was closed. Her husband loved her deeply, yet she was constantly provoked by the other wife who had sons and daughters. In Shiloh, while worshiping before the LORD, Hannah prayed a fervent and specific prayer—not for status, not for revenge, not for comparison. She asked for a son so she could give him back to the LORD.

That’s what I’m talking about!

If I’m honest, I don’t always pray that way. I may dress my prayers up to look spiritual, but many of them are mixed with self-interest. What would it look like to pray for something—marriage, ministry, provision—only to place it right back into God’s hands? To ask, not to possess, but to surrender?

Everything is already the LORD’s—even what we’re asking for.

I’ve heard Hannah’s story many times, but this time it stirred me to pray differently. To pray for the glory of God. I hope it does the same for you.
