Psalm 70:1-3

“Aha! We've got him now!”

Good gracious, how many of us have felt times where it was as if all of life was saying that about us?

Our job: “Aha! We've got him now!”
Our bills: “Aha! We've got him now!”
Our health: “Aha! We've got him now!”
Our neighbor with the loud truck: “Aha! We've got him now!”

Like all of us, I've had my own dark and difficult roads. And, like all of us, I've been confused. I've been angry. I've been hurt. I've wondered how and why God could have allowed it.

I know we're promised trouble in this life. I know we're not immune to suffering. Yet, in those moments, it still feels AWFUL.

David, in our Psalm, shows us the only way to get through those times and trials: “Please, God, rescue me.”

It can feel like a cliché. “Just pray about it! Just ask God! Just call on Him!” But it really is the only way to ultimately soothe our soul. It really is the only thing that brings peace over time.

In my darkest time, it didn't feel like it was helping at first. I still felt lost and angry. But I trusted what I knew to be true, and I kept calling on Him.

And you know what?

Over time, I felt His presence. I felt His healing. I felt His love. I felt His grace and mercy.

Don't give up. You have a Father in heaven who loves you and would do anything to nurse your soul, heal your wounds, and hold you through the storm.
