Choose This Day

Joshua 24

It feels like only a few years, but in reality, decades have passed since I entered into covenant with my bride. We made vows—commitment and dedication to one another. I have, I am, and I will remain committed to this woman. Circumstances rise and fall, but one thing remains steady: our covenant.
We are one flesh, just as Scripture declares.
Joshua’s final chapter echoes that same covenant call. Israel is challenged—and so are we—to serve the Lord exclusively. Put away other gods. Serve Him alone in sincerity and truth. Hebrews 12:1 urges us to lay aside every weight and the sin that clings so closely, and to run with endurance the race set before us.
When Joshua says, “choose this day whom you will serve,” our English reads like a single future decision. But the Hebrew carries the idea of ongoing action.
It is not merely a moment—it is a continual commitment. Have we, are we, and will we remain steadfast and immovable (Psalm 112:7; Proverbs 4:26; 1 Peter 5:10)?
God is calling for a choice. Not partial devotion. Not lukewarm allegiance (Revelation 3:16).
Choose Him.
Jesus posed a similar question to the twelve: “Do you want to go away as well?” Peter answered, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life” (John 6:67–68).
The question still stands. Will you choose this day?
