1 Chronicles 25-26

At first glance, 1 Chronicles can feel overwhelming—full of names, genealogies, and long divisions that are easy to skim. But tucked inside are small treasures. In 1 Chronicles 26, we read about gatekeepers from the line of Korah. That makes you pause—wasn’t Korah the one buried in the earth for rebelling against Moses in the book of Numbers?

Then comes this surprising truth: “But the sons of Korah did not die” (Numbers 26:11).

That changes everything.

Many of us come from patterns marked by brokenness—sins passed down, struggles repeated, some brought into the light and others still hidden. When we reflect on our past, it can feel heavy. But Scripture doesn’t leave us there—it gives us hope.

Korah’s story could have ended in judgment, but God preserved his children. The cycle of rebellion didn’t define the next generation. Instead, they were given purpose—serving in the temple, leading in worship, and standing guard as gatekeepers. What began in failure wasn’t the end of the story.

The same is true for us.

Because of Jesus Christ—His death and resurrection—we are not bound to the patterns behind us. Sin does not get the final word. New life is possible, and a different legacy can begin.

Be the one who breaks the cycle. Choose Christ.

This is the good news woven throughout the Bible: God restores, redeems, and rewrites what once seemed lost.
