Alternate Plans

1 Samuel 5-10

As I read these chapters, my first thought was—wow… we can be incredibly stubborn. The God of the universe promised to protect Israel if they would simply follow Him. But they refused. Instead, they demanded a king. So God allowed their alternate plan to move forward.
Saul was anointed and ordained, ultimately by God. But this was not God’s best plan for Israel. It may have looked good at first, but it wasn’t the best.
How often do we do the same thing? We set our own plans in motion without even consulting our Heavenly Father. Yet time and time again, God proves that He can be trusted. He loves us and desires what is truly best for our lives.
Prayer Points:
God, reveal in me a time where I have trusted my plans over Yours. Give me the humility to ask for forgiveness and the courage to seek redemption where it’s needed.
Father, help me trust You daily. You have good plans for me.
